Nature trail

Nature trail
Walking along the Educational nature trail of the Adventure Park you can experience nature’s beauty or improve your knowledge of the flora and fauna of the wood and the lake.

Insects
The wood gives home to various insects. Because of the lake there are numerous different dragonfly species here, in addition butterflies, ground beetles, longhorn beetles or stag beetles are also often seen.

Birds of the park
The trees, the bushes and the undergrowth offer excellent nesting possibilities to numerous song-birds. It is likely that you see birds like the great tit, the marsh tit or the great spotted woodpecker in the hollow of the older trees. You can also spot a common chaffinch, a blackbird or a song thrush on the ground looking for food. In the bushes the Eurasian wren, the Eurasian blackcap, or the common nightingale is lurking. On the tree trunks the Eurasian nuthatch is moving slowly downwards while the short-toed treecreeper is creeping towards the top of the tree.

Water birds
Nesting in the reeds of the Boating-lake the wild duck is our most common bird. The almost totally black Eurasian coot is mostly hiding in the reeds so it is rarely seen. The common moorhen and the crake are also rare species here. Sitting on a reed blade the great reed warbler attracts attention by ’creaking’ loudly. Common visitors to the lake are the grey heron and the great egret. Those who are lucky can spot our smallest heron, the little bittern among the reeds. It is also a special spectacle when the common kingfisher with twinkling blue feathers flies over the lake.

Animals in the water
The Boating lake ensures a favourable place for living and reproduction for a variety of animals. There are numerous edible frogs, common toads, European green toads and brown agile frogs. Early summer evenings a special croaking choir of the European Fire-bellied Toads can be heard. Reptiles like the grass snake is also often seen. On the contrary it is really rare to spot the careful European pond turtle that has found its perfect living condition in the clay pitholes of the wetland. The tench and the golden carassius are settling naturally in the lake from the water system of the Gyöngyös-brook. Fish like carp, common bream, pike-perch, pike and catfish are regularly stocked into the lake for sport fishing purposes.

The bushes and trees of the park
We can get to know the following plants along the educational nature trail: elderberry, common dogwood, European spindle, privet, oak trees, ash trees, hornbeams, field maple trees.
